We are so happy that you connected with us. Welcome to Holistic Veterinary Healing where your pets will find a whole-listic approach to their healthcare. Our mission is to provide a balanced and gentle approach to your pet’s healthcare and above all cause no harm. Our services are integrated using both holistic and conventional medicine to bring balance.
Veterinary holistic medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole animal — body, mind, spirit, and emotions — in the quest for optimal health and wellness. According to the holistic medicine philosophy, one CAN achieve optimal health . The primary goal of holistic medicine practice is gaining proper balance in life.
Holistic medicine practitioners believe that the whole animal is made up of interdependent parts and if one part is not working properly, all the other parts will be affected. In this way, if animals have imbalances (physical, emotional, or spiritual) in their lives, it can negatively affect their overall health. A holistic doctor will use all forms of health care, from conventional medicine to alternative therapies, to bring about optimal health and wellness.
Thus, when an animal suffering from vomiting and diarrhea pays a visit to a holistic doctor, instead of walking out solely with medications, the doctor will likely take a look at all the potential factors that may be causing the animal’s symptoms, such as other health problems, diet and sleep habits, stress and emotional problems. The treatment plan may involve acupuncture, herbs, homeopathy, supplements, drugs to relieve symptoms, but also lifestyle modifications to help prevent the issues. Also Xrays, ultrasounds, MRI, CT scans may be further warranted to delve deeper to find the cause as with the ingestion of a foreign body, tumors etc.

In March 2016 we lost our beloved Dr. “Kitty” Raichura
Dr. Rajuta Raichura, DVM (February 2, 1967 – March 26, 2016)
Dr. Rujuta “Kitty” Raichura, 49, of North Potomac, MD died of a stroke on Saturday, March 26 at 1:17 pm surrounded by the love of her many family members, friends and clients. She is survived by her wife, Cecelia Bonfils; her parents Chandrakant and Hansa Raichura; her sisters Sejal Raichura and Krishna Raichura; and her brother and sister-in-law Pranav and Karen Raichura and their daughter Gianna as well as many loving uncles, aunts and cousins.
She was born on February 2, 1967 in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania and educated in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Panchgani, India. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1984 when she was 17 years old. After attending Wootton High School for a year, Kitty attended Montgomery College and the University of Maryland, graduating in 1989. She attended the School of Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee University and graduated in 1996 with honors. She completed her residency in Tennessee.
After working as a veterinarian for seven years she was drawn to a more holistic approach to caring for animals and attended the Chi Institute in Florida. Once she was certified as an acupuncturist she began practicing holistic medicine at Veterinary Holistic Care in Bethesda, MD. In 2013 she realized a lifelong dream when she and her business partner Pema Chapell Mallu opened Holistic Veterinary Healing in Germantown, MD.
In 2014 she realized another lifelong dream when she married the love of her life, Cecelia Bonfils, in a small ceremony in Rockville, MD. Their courtship and two years of marriage were full of laughter and joy.
Dr Raichura committed her life to lovingly and compassionately caring for and healing cats, dogs, rabbits and other critters. Her clients found her to be kind and generous, warm and intuitive.
When she wasn’t working with the animal community, Kitty could be found laughing loudly, taking friends out to their favorite restaurants, catching up with her family all over the world, seeing her favorite musicians and comedians perform live, walking on the beach, singing karaoke and playing games with loved ones. She will be deeply missed.
