Dr. Pema Choepel Mallu is a graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in veterinary medicine. Unlike traditional veterinarians, she focuses on natural and holistic treatments for your pets. Her years as a Tibetan Buddhist nun play a large role in how she approaches veterinary medicine. She believes that all creatures, human beings and animals, are equal. She uses this notion to provide the best care and treatment for your pet.
Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture
Dr. Pema Choepel Mallu uses the healing arts of Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and herbs to treat numerous conditions. She’s been a veterinary acupuncturist for over 20 years and believes that acupuncture is an ideal alternative for animal arthritis, seizure, degenerative diseases, and more. She will also recommend herbal remedies that are safe and trusted for treating a variety of animal diseases. Her training in healing energy treatments is a great complement to acupuncture treatments. She will use her hands to direct healing energy to specific spots on your pet, with the goal to restore function or relieve pain.
Veterinary Care without Medications
While Dr. Pema understands that sometimes medication is necessary for treatment, her goal is to help you avoid toxic medications by providing holistic treatments and therapies. One example is her use of stem cell injections to help degenerative diseases, like joint deterioration, so that animals can live a longer, fuller life. She is also learning how to perform chiropractic adjustments on animals to help with spinal alignment and provide relief from muscle tightness. Her love for holistic treatments and animals has led to a fulfilling career helping pets and their owners understand and implement natural healing therapies.
